HCL Workload Automation on Amazon Web Services

Configuring a backup domain manager

Before you begin

  1. Optionally add a backup domain manager by instantiating the same AMI as the master domain manager, as described in Configuring a master domain manager. You can configure one backup domain manager for each HCL Workload Automation on AWS instance.

About this task

Perform the following steps to configure the backup domain manager:
  1. As soon as you have instantiated the virtual server, an automatic configuration process starts. The configuration might require some time to complete. To ensure that the process has completed, check that the last line in the //images/Infrastructure/Utilities/postconfigscripts/reconfig.log file contains a success message. After the process has completed, verify that the backup domain manager is up and running.
  2. Grant the wauser user access to the master domain manager from the backup domain manager and vice versa, as follows:

By default, a key pair with a private key file (id_rsa) and a public key file (id_rsa.pub) is created in /home/wauser/.ssh. Add the SSL public key defined for the wauser on the backup domain manager (/home/wauser/.ssh/id_rsa.pub) to the authorized_keys file of the user wauser on the master domain manager (/home/wauser/.ssh/ authorized_keys). When running scripts after defining the SSL key, use the -key option to specify the wauser private key file (-key /home/wauser/.ssh/id_rsa).

  3. Run on the backup domain manager a reconfiguration script. The reconfiguration script varies depending on your offering:
    Full Stack
    Perform the following steps:
    1. Browse to /images/Infrastructure/Utilities/DB2.
    2. Run the wa_configureDB2_BKM command with root user. For more information, see wa_configureDB2_BKM command.
Stack for a remote Oracle or Informix database
    Oracle
    Perform the following steps:
    1. Browse to /images/Infrastructure/Utilities/Oracle.
    2. Run the wa_configureOracle command with root user. For more information, see wa_configureOracle command.
    Informix
    Perform the following steps:
    1. Browse to /images/Infrastructure/Utilities/Informix.
    2. Run the wa_configureInformix command with root user. For more information, see wa_configureInformix command.
  4. Associate the virtual server to a security group containing the inbound firewall rules as described in the table. Apply the same security group to both master domain manager and backup domain manager:
    Protocol Port
    ssl 22
    https 443
    tcp 31116
    tcp 31131
    tcp 31111
    tcp 50003
    tcp 16311
    tcp 41114
If you choose a public IP address for your virtual server, the following inbound firewall rule must be added to the security group associated to the virtual server:
    Protocol Port
    https 16316

What to do next

After configuring the backup domain manager, download and install agents, as described in Installing, updating, and uninstalling agents.

You can also optionally install your own SSL certificates. By default, different self-signed certificates are automatically generated for each HCL Workload Automation on AWS instance. For more information about installing custom SSL certificates, see Configuring custom certificates.
