Upgrading your environment

About this task

Depending on your offering, perform the following steps to upgrade your environment to the newer AMI version.
Note: If you are upgrading from an AMI for HCL Workload Automation version 9.4.0.3, before proceeding with the upgrade contact HCL Support for assistance with the upgrade procedure.
Full Stack including DB2 database
Follow the instructions contained in HCL Workload Automation Readme File for Fix Pack 4 for version 9.4.0.

If you are upgrading your backup domain manager, you must disable the firewall on the master domain manager virtual server, or enable a connection between master domain manager and backup domain manager with port number equal to 50000.

Stack for a remote Oracle or Informix database
Oracle
  1. Download the Fix Pack installation package ZIP file from HCL License Portal, and extract it onto your master domain manager or backup domain manager virtual server.
  2. Stop the HCL Workload Automation on AWS instance by using the service command service hwamdm stop.
  3. Set up the installation tool, by running the command:
    /opt/HCL/WA/TWS/_uninstall/ACTIONTOOLS/TWSupdate_file -updateProperty /opt/HCL/WA/WAS/TWSProfile/properties/TWSConfig.properties  "com.ibm.tws.dao.rdbms.rdbmsName" "IDS"
    Upgrade procedure using the silent installation
    1. Edit the response file IWS94_UPGRADE_MDM_from9x_UNIX.xml and comment the Oracle database section.
    2. Encrypt the password by using the command:
      /opt/IBM/InstallationManager/eclipse/IBMIM -silent -noSplash encryptString <stringToEncrypt>
    3. Start the upgrade process by running the command:
      /opt/IBM/InstallationManager/eclipse/tools/imcl input /tmp/response_files/IWS94_UPGRADE_MDM_from9x_UNIX.xml -acceptLicense
    4. The upgrade is completed when the message:
      Updated to com.ibm.tws_9.4.4.20180712_0643 in the /opt/HCL/WA directory.
      appears as the first message in the upgrade output. Ignore any further warning messages.
    Upgrade procedure using the wizard
    1. Install the prerequisite libraries by running the command:
      sudo yum install gtk2 libXtst
    2. Start the Installation Manager in wizard mode and proceed with the upgrade process, as described in HCL Workload Automation Readme File for Fix Pack 4 for version 9.4.0.
  4. Run the wa_configureOracle.sh command with -update argument, adding all the necessary parameters.
Informix
Follow the instructions contained in HCL Workload Automation Readme File for Fix Pack 4 for version 9.4.0.

Results

The HCL Workload Automation on AWS instance is now upgraded to the newer AMI version.
