HCL Workload Automation on Amazon Web Services

Scenario 1: Direct connection; your computer can connect to the master domain manager

Direct connection; procedure to install an agent on a computer that can connect to the master domain manager.

This scenario describes your environment if the computers on which you are launching the agents can communicate with the internet and connect to the master domain manager.

To install the agent, complete the following steps:
  1. Verify the supported operating systems and prerequisites.
  2. Before you start the installation, ensure your computer meets the following requirements:
    • temporary disk space 360 MB
    • installation directory space 660 MB
  3. If you did not already download the agent installation files, go to the Dynamic Workload Console landing page. In the Download and Install section, you can download the agent installation files for the selected operating system platform.
  4. Go to the directory where you saved the compressed agent installation files, for example \WAAgent.
  5. Extract the TWS94_WIN_X86_64_AGENT.zip agent installation file.
  6. An install.bat file is provided to facilitate the agent installation. Using the install.bat file, the agent is installed with the Windows user HWAuser in the %ProgramFiles%\HCL\WA_HWAuser directory by using the 31114 port to dispatch workload, the 31132 port to dispatch events, and all the default values. The default value assigned to the -gwid <gateway_site_label> parameter is GW1. To launch the installation using values different from the default settings, see the description of the parameters in Windows command syntax and parameters. To install the agent, double-click install.bat.
  7. A command prompt displays. Type y to continue with the installation. If you receive the following message:
"Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this script?",
click Yes. The installation begins. The installation creates the Windows user HWAuser and generates a password. This is an automatically generated password that changes for each installation.
Note: This password is not written to a log file, therefore, you must take note of it. You require this password for subsequent tasks.
During the installation, if you receive a security warning, click Run to continue.

If you choose not to use the install.bat file because you need to change one ore more of the default settings, ensure that you verify the Windows user account control settings and that you run the installation command as administrator as documented in Step 6 and Step 7 in Scenario 2.

After a successful installation proceed with the installation of another agent if necessary.

If the installation did not complete successfully, an error is displayed on the screen. Correct the error as described in the error Operator Response that you find in the %ProgramFiles%\HCL\WA_HWAuser file, and rerun the installation.
