Uninstalling an agent on Windows operating systems

Instruction to uninstall an agent on Windows operating systems.

About this task

To uninstall the agent, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Ensure that you have at least 100 MB of temporary space before starting the uninstallation process.
  2. The installation steps require that you login as Administrator and that the User Account Control (UAC) is set to Never notify. To verify that the User Account Control (UAC) is set to Never notify, see Check your Windows User Account Control (UAC) settings.
  3. To log in as Administrator, open a command prompt with the Administrator login account, by right-clicking the Command Prompt icon and selecting Run as Administrator. The following figure is an example of what is displayed on Windows 7 operating systems:
  4. Change to the <installation_dir>\WA directory. If you installed the agent in the default directory, change to the directory %ProgramFiles%\HCL\WA_<user_name> Where: user_name is the user for which the agent is installed.
  5. From the directory where you installed the product, run the following command:
    To stop the agent:
    ShutDownLwa
    To uninstall the agent:
    cscript installWAAgent.vbs -uninst -uname <username>
    , where:
    user_name
    is the name of the user for which the agent was installed.

Results

The agent is uninstalled and a successful completion message is displayed on the screen. If the uninstallation did not complete successfully, an error is displayed on the screen. Correct the error as described in the error Operator Response that you find in the inst_dir\logs file, and rerun the installation.
