Creating a domain

About this task

You add domain definitions to the HCL Workload Automation database in either of the following ways:

When you are creating a distributed workstation, from the Create Workstations panel.
When displaying the list of workstations, by clicking Domains view.

Procedure

To create a new domain when creating a workstation, perform the following steps:

From the navigation toolbar, click Administration > Workload Environment Design > Create Workstations.
Select a distributed engine from the list and click Create Workstations.
In the Workstations Properties panel, specify the attributes for the workstation you are creating, then click Assign to Domain and, on the Select Domain panel, click New to create a new domain.
Click Save to add the domain to the database and return to the Select Domain panel.
In the Select Domain panel click OK to assign the new domain to the workstation you are creating.

To add a new domain definition from the list of distributed workstations, perform the following steps:

Click Administration > Workload Environment Design > List Workstations.
Optionally, enter filtering criteria and click Display.
From the list of workstations, click Domains View.
Click New and, on the Domain properties panel, specify the properties for the domain.
Click Save to add the domain to the database or Cancel to exit without saving.
